About Test Your Well

Helping private well owners find certified testing labs

Test Your Well helps homeowners and rural property owners quickly find accredited laboratories for drinking water analysis. We focus on transparency, trusted sources, and easy comparison.

Our directory highlights lab credentials, contaminants tested, contact options, and user review data to help you choose a provider with confidence.

Our Mission

Unlike municipal water supplies, private wells are largely unregulated. The responsibility for ensuring water safety falls entirely on the well owner. We created Test Your Well to bridge the gap between complex laboratory testing and everyday homeowners. Our mission is to make finding a qualified, certified testing laboratory as simple as searching for a local restaurant.

Why Testing Matters

Many of the most dangerous water contaminants—like arsenic, lead, nitrates, and PFAS—are completely invisible. They have no taste, no smell, and no color.

Without regular testing, families can unknowingly consume harmful levels of these contaminants for years. The EPA and health departments nationwide recommend that private well owners test their water annually for coliform bacteria and nitrates, and more frequently if there are local concerns or changes in water quality.

How The Directory Works

We've compiled a comprehensive, searchable database of over 390 accredited water testing laboratories across the United States. You can search by state, specific contaminants, or simply find the lab closest to you.

We prioritize laboratories that hold state or national certifications (such as NELAC/TNI) for drinking water analysis, ensuring that the results you receive are accurate, reliable, and legally defensible.
